We aim to: Actively engage students in the study of merchantry and to develop as constructive and self-sustaining learners and as hair-trigger and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds Encourage students to use an enquiring, hair-trigger tideway to distinguish facts from opinion and to build arguments and make informed judgements Help to develop and wield students' knowledge and understanding and skills to trendy issues in a range of national, local and international contexts Encourage students to fathom the range of perspectives of variegated stakeholder in relation to merchantry and economic activities Consider the extent to which merchantry and economic worriedness can be upstanding and sustainable Provide opportunity for all pupils to unzip their full potential through heady and challenging schemes of work, stimulating classroom environment, diverse and enjoyable teaching and learning strategies and extra-curricular activities. Enable pupils to see the relevance ofMerchantryStudies within their overall education and to develop their sensation of the world of work, enterprise and as European citizens.       Enterprise & Employability at Llantwit Major School   On Tuesday 29 November, Llantwit Major School was transformed in to a hive of entrepreneurial worriedness with Year 10  taking part in ‘Dragon’s Den’, where they were given the task of developing a merchantry proposal for an Innovative Idea as part of the  Welsh Baccalaureate course. Year 10 students were asked to create a visual exhibit workbench on ‘Wearable Technology’ and then pitch their idea to a group of financial experts.  The ’Dragons’ were really impressed with the level of inventive ideas, the quality of the displays and the pitches made.  However it did make judging extremely difficult! During the day the students displayed a number of skills including leadership, management, presentation, team work and creativity; all which will prepare them for future employment.  In Year 10 three teams were awarded £50 worth of Amazon vouchers for the pursuit categories: Best product idea – ‘Globe Speach’ comprising Georgia Bingham, Freya Hardwicke-Merry, Nia Johnstone, Katie Taylor, Summer Mason and Nathan Morgan Best visual exhibit – ‘Porta-net’ comprising  Dan Carini, Zak Williams, Josh Gray, James Vickers, Nathan Pownall and James Llewellyn Best pitch -  Meghan McDonald, Erin Middleton, Alex Zalasar, Jo Godfrey, Ieuan Lewis  Our thanks and appreciation go to  Mr D Mutlow, Chair of Governors and Mr J Clark, Governor for their assistance as ‘Dragons’ on the day.  Show larger version     © Llantwit Major School 2018 Llantwit Major School is a Vale of Glamorgan Authority mixed comprehensive school.
